The proposal is a program for an alternative building, on the land of the former Fábrica Silva & Sistelo in Rio Tinto, where the concept does not limit, a priori, the investor's option but opens the range of their options and motivations on a unique project idea depending on its needs.
We sought to investigate a model that added unexpected programs such as partial housing use. This proposal can be a single property building, horizontal property or a subdivision, without the need to review implantations, land movements, basic infrastructure, roads, parking lots and green areas.
The typology of flexibility of compatible uses has been widely considered by the contemporary ways of life and the proposal focuses on the exercise of varied typologies and on the idea of Loft – Industrial Housing.
We tested the model presented in a housing/services scenario divided by plots, where it is guaranteed that each user can enjoy their housing and their own business. Each plot reserves the public/private areas and relates differently to the street fronts and the inner square. Regulatory issues are safeguarded and the strength of the idea lies in the fact that they are domesticated by integrating the urban set into the surroundings. The highlight and visibility of all street fronts/surrounding is guaranteed and the road circulation system is reserved for the interior of the proposal.
This proposal of an alternative building is an interpretation of the needs of contemporaneity that combines form, function and identity.
