The main purpose of this intervention, more than design a skatepark in its most literal sense, was the creation of a square. We proposed a treatment for the interior of a city block, so it can be assumed as a versatile, diverse and intergenerational public space. It was important to set limits, to establish traffic and parking rules and to define a path that connects all the different heighs. The concrete was chosen to organize the space, like an urban or geological “accident” that justifies its use as a skatepark and, at the same time, links the new square with the surrounding urban space. The concrete, the steel and the vegetation were used as a way to get a more strength and durable image. At the limit of the curve and height that are impossible to achieve. It’s like a pre existence that has to be tamed.
