The urban continuity buildings, of intermediate height between the tower scale and the terraced houses with two or three floors, have the important task of keeping the urban mesh coherent. They have a physical proximity to both scales and little own space to grow, and for that reason they are forced into an important dialogue within their limits. Because they have no other place to expand or express, these types of buildings are deeply dependent on their “roots”. It is the shrub under the crowns of tall trees and therefore refocus the speech in the relation with the street and in the distance to the neighboring constructions. The project develops a strategy that allows to switch between opaque and covered areas, used in the neighborhood relation for protection or views.
The building assumes a dichotomy in different facade plans, the concept of condensation versus evaporation. One that opens and another that closes. One that controls itself and the other that sets itself free. Opposition to this ethereal facade is a mass where are proposed the more fixed service programs, vertical accesses and technical areas. These are contained and controlled areas.
